Warm air at the vents, a tripped breaker, or ice building up on the coil isn't something to sit on in Alturas, CA heat. We check refrigerant charge, compressor amp draw, and coil condition before quoting a fix.
Freon top-offs without finding the actual leak are one of the most common ways homeowners get overcharged for Ac Repair. Our approach is pressure readings, superheat/subcooling checks against factory spec, and electronic leak detection — a slow leak repaired properly outlasts three top-offs.
Non-negotiables on every cooling call.
All refrigerant work is performed by EPA 608-certified technicians, which is a legal requirement we take seriously, not a formality.
We prioritize no-cool calls, and most Alturas requests get a same-day slot even in the busiest stretch of summer.
The number we quote — capacitor or compressor — is the number you approve before work starts.
Electronic sniffers and UV dye kits find the actual leak point instead of masking symptoms, not just temporarily papered over.
Six repairs that cover the vast majority of cooling failures we see.
The leak gets located, repaired at the source, and the system recharged to spec — not just refilled and sent on its way.
A compressor that hums without starting, or pulls high amps, gets tested at the windings and start capacitor before we ever recommend replacement.
An iced-over coil usually means restricted airflow or low refrigerant — we identify which and correct the root cause, not just thaw and hope and fix what's actually causing it.
Dual-run capacitor failure is a leading cause of a condenser that won't kick on, and it's a same-visit fix once confirmed with a microfarad reading.
A condenser coil caked in debris can't reject heat properly, driving up head pressure and shortening compressor life — we clean and inspect fins during the visit.
A blown low-voltage fuse or a tripped disconnect can mimic total system failure — ruling these out first can save a needless compressor replacement.
Four steps from your call to cold air again.
Describe the symptom — warm air, ice on the lines, breaker tripping — and we schedule the nearest tech.
Truck arrives stocked with refrigerant, gauges, and common replacement parts, ready to diagnose on the spot.
We measure before we touch anything — then you get a flat-rate quote to approve.
Same-visit completion in most cases, covered under warranty once you sign off.
Reviews from completed cooling repairs.
AC was blowing warm during a heat wave and they had someone out same day. Tracked down a refrigerant leak at the schrader valve, fixed it right, cold air within the hour.
— K. Munoz, homeowner
Previous company just added freon twice and charged me both times. This tech actually found the leak with dye and fixed the fitting.
— D. Harmon, homeowner
Compressor was humming and not starting. Turned out the capacitor, fifteen-minute fix once diagnosed, fair flat price.
— P. Nakamura, small business owner
Coil was frozen solid, tech explained it was an airflow issue from a dirty filter combined with low charge, fixed both.
— S. Ferraro, homeowner
Common questions before booking an AC repair.
The most common causes are a refrigerant leak, compressor failure, or a coil too dirty to reject heat, and we check all three.
Topping off without finding the leak point is possible, but it's a short-term patch and we're upfront about that.
Cooling failures get priority routing, and most same-day requests are seen within a few hours.
Not urgent in the sense of danger, but running the system while frozen can damage the compressor, so it's worth addressing quickly.
Our Ac Repair focus is central split-systems and packaged units, though we can advise on window units too, and can point you in the right direction for window units.
A complete pressure and electrical workup plus a written explanation, applied to the repair cost if you proceed.
